Orthotics can help with heel pain in many ways. They can help correct an injury that has already happened, and they can even help reduce the risk of future trauma. There are two different categories of orthotics: functional and accommodative. Functional orthoses are for controlling abnormal range of motion. They hold your foot in a certain position so that healing can occur or so that you aren’t likely to injure yourself.
Accommodative orthoses are meant for comfort. They may add cushioning or support where you need it most. A nice thing about this cushioning is that it can prevent calluses and blisters from forming. Orthotics can be both preventive and healing in nature. You can discuss with Sugar Land doctors to see if investing in an orthotic is the right choice for you.
