Spring is here, which means you’re probably pulling out the sandals and getting ready for warm weather. It’s great to be excited, but don’t forget about foot skin care in the midst of getting ready for the Crossing Borders concert series and warm evenings walking around the town square.
It’s good for your feet to look nice, but it’s also important to notice things that could be potentially dangerous. One of the places people forget to check for skin cancer is on their feet. Make a habit of looking them over (even in between your toes) for abnormal moles.
Skin cancer usually looks like a spot that changes size, shape, or color. It can also appear as a scaly patch of skin that won’t heal. If you notice any of these attributes on any of the moles or freckles on your feet, seek medical attention immediately. Skin cancer typically responds well to treatment when caught early.
Another thing to watch out for are calluses. If you notice a callus forming on your foot, don’t try to remove it yourself with anything sharp. You could end up hurting yourself and place yourself at higher risk of infection. You can use a pumice stone to gently remove some of the layers, or you can visit our office for worry-free treatment.
