Are you an avid runner? Has heel pain caused you to slow down?
Believe it or not, shoes can help relieve your heel pain.
Dr. Marco Vargas, of Vargas Foot & Ankle Specialists, sees patients with symptoms of heel pain at his office regularly. Heel pain can happen in the front, back or bottom of the heel. Common symptoms include tenderness, swelling and pain.
However, you can help prevent heel pain by wearing shoes that will protect your feet. So how do you find the right shoes for your feet? Below are some tips Dr. Vargas suggests when picking out your running footwear.
- If your feet have normal arches. You want a shoe with equal amounts of stability and cushioning. Having this type of footwear will help your foot absorb shock.
- If your feet have low arches. You want a shoe that has stability and motion control. Having this type of footwear will help correct overpronation.
- If your feet have high arches. You want a shoe that is cushioned which includes a softer midsole and flexibility. Having this type of footwear will help with shock absorption from the high arches of your feet.
