While Ischemic Foot is not a term that many have heard of, it is a condition that many do suffer from. Ischemic Foot is a condition that causes poor blood flow from the heart to the foot. Because of this poor blood flow, the person who haves this usually has cold feet, discoloration in their toes, and/or muscle cramping in their feet. If someone has Ischemic Foot and doesn’t treat it, it could cause pain and ulcers to form on their feet. The causes can be do to a blockage in an artery, or another trouble in their arteries. If you have cold, discolored feet, you need to get checked out asap, because you could have a blockage in your blood stream, which causes heart attacks. Now if you have cold feet all the time, you should probably get a check up by your podiatrist, but don’t freak out because cold feet could mean other things too. Many people just have cold feet and it is nothing serious, but you need to get it checked out to be sure.
To treat Ischemic Foot, your podiatrist will give you exercises to do that will promote better blood flow. They might also have you wear specialized shoes to protect your feet. Lastly, medications can be taken to promote better blood flow, but you need to get these prescribed by a doctor, don’t take any medication not prescribed by your doctor. Your grandmother’s medications aren’t made for you and can hurt you very badly.
