As the cooler weather sets in, people tend to exercise less. Its something that happens every year. It makes sense, of course, because who wants to go out and sweat when the temperature drops below 50 degrees. It’s not as bad for us down here in Texas than for those further up north. So we still have days where the temperature is tolerable. But what do people do to keep getting their exercise in?

Well first, if you belong to a gym, you don’t have to worry about it. You just have to deal with the rush of hundreds of people joining at the beginning of every year and by the end of January, the numbers go back to normal. But what if you hate going to the gym? Well there are options for you to stay healthy so that it can avoid injuries and illness.

If you don’t want to go crazy but want to just get some exercise in, you can still walk. Just go when the temperature is where you can tolerate it. When it gets cold out, you can always go to the mall, or some stores and walk around. Make an afternoon of it, doing some window shopping with friends. With right eating habits, this can be very effective in drops a little weight and maintaining that weight. If however, you want to drop a lot of weight, you need to push yourself harder. Maybe take up running? Or look into getting one of those at home exercise systems. Products like P90X and Insanity do help you get into great shape, but are also extreme and hard work. Find the right fit for you, but don’t let yourself get lazy! Keep getting your exercise in to keep your body healthy.

Make sure to keep those feet exercised too! Contact Dr. Marco Vargas at Vargas Foot & Ankle Specialists if you need help learning about how to keep your feet healthy and avoiding injuries.
