Dr. Marco Vargas
Triple Board-Certified Podiatrist
Growing up in Bogota, Colombia, I always wanted to be a doctor but wasn’t sure what kind. While playing football at the University of Florida, I suffered a foot injury and met my mentor, Stuart Leeds, in my hometown of Miami, Florida. This experience introduced me to the specialty of podiatry. I remember being impressed by going to his office in pain, wondering if I was going to need surgery, and leaving after my first visit pain-free, having done everything that I needed right there in his office. And, best of all, I never had to have surgery! He was also the team podiatrist for the Miami Heat and the University of Miami athletes. That garnered my attention at the time since I was an athlete myself and was interested in sports medicine. Eventually, when I finished my surgical residency in Los Angeles, I joined his successor and my biomechanics professor, Dr. James Losito, and worked with the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association and the Miami Fusion of Major League Soccer as a team doctor.

After a short time practicing in Miami, I was recruited by a hospital in Richmond, Texas. I made the move and began my journey in private practice on February 3, 2000. Since then, my practice has grown significantly. I have been blessed to have a fulfilling and rewarding career including being an attending surgeon for the Greater Texas Education Foundation podiatry residency training program, as well as a team doctor for the Sugar Land Skeeters minor league baseball team. I have also hosted radio shows on Univision and La Tremenda and made television appearances on Telemundo and CBS local news.
Away From the Office
I have three wonderful children, Olivia, Lucas, and Zachary, and two English bulldogs, Paco and Blue. In my spare time, I enjoy working out and spending time with my boys, boxing with my son Lucas, and spending time at my home in Cabo San Lucas. I also enjoy fishing and boating and anything that has to do with the ocean. I am a HUGE Florida Gator and Miami Dolphin fan and always cheer for Colombia in the World Cup!
I consider myself fortunate to be a resident of Fort Bend County and to be able to practice in Sugar Land and Katy. I enjoy being able to treat patients and watch them feel improvement in a short period of time and be able to return to work, school, and the activities that they enjoy. It is my most sincere desire that you feel comfortable in my practice. I am honored by and appreciate the trust that you have placed in us to take care of your foot and ankle problems.
